THE FUTURE
| FUTURISM | ||
|---|---|---|
Central to Man-Like Machines is an interest in, indeed a reverence for the significance of, the Future. After all, the past is over with and the present (if there is such a thing) is what it is. But the Future? The inexorable nature of Humanity's progress at this point cannot be ignored. Things are changing, and with a little forethought and wisdom, it will be the best thing that ever happened to us. |

WEB/MUSIC/HUMANITY 2.0

| There is a recent concept of Web 2.0, referring to the new level of complex interaction we are beginning to share through our electronic realms due to massive weblogging, social connectivity sites, open-source concepts spreading into all realms and the wiki-information process. We are seeing the beginnings of hugely emergent new abilities to share and interact with information and each other, and information is becoming more and more of the world. We will see, over the span of the century, a near-unforseeable change in the way that we interact with and exist within the world around us as this connectivity, and the capability of our minds, exponentially continues to grow. | ||
The Post-Capitalist Experiment The Basement Dialogues The first things you see when you come into the basement are tigers. There are six wildlife-observation style photos above the cat mangled antique sofa. The sofa is special kind of classy: wood-paneled, cat mangled, and stuffed with straw. The carpet has a strange mottled color scheme that could only be appropriate in an alternate version of the 1970s where Andy Warhol was President. Sitting on top of the carpet is a collectible coffee table from Target -- only 285,000 were made, we had two (the nice one was upstairs). |

| The truth is, we need to prepare for the ethics involved in potentially being the first immortal, near-omnipotent generation, and maybe among the last naturally biological ones. | ||
