Essential to Man-Like Machines as an organization is the old adage that the unexamined life is not worth living. It is such reflection that keeps us sentient and relevant.

It is important that this section of Man-Like Machines not seem pretentious, absurd or dickish. It is of course impossible to be truly certain of anything, but it is not true that lasting understandings and intellectual/spiritual progress cannot be made. We are at a crucial point where evolution has everything to do with what humans think.

We must talk everything out. We must be open to every direction of thought, and with our collective wisdom head in a really good direction, as opposed to simply going in the direction the guy with the money recommends. Man-Like Machines holds the glorious belief that Humanity can transcend its biological/historical bullshitophilia, and that any single individual, by means only of reason and will, is capable of achieving wisdoms that will make her or his life into a roaring fire of awesomeness and allow the frustrations and fears simply to fall away.

With that in mind, there will soon be available in this section various writings on Enlightenment, Wisdom, Thought, Folly, Spirituality, Science, Philosophy, et cetera by George Dalphin and/or Joe Foster. And do not fret, for this is what George is working on right now (it runs parallel to The Subtle Physics anyway).

It is certain that the easy and obvious philosophy will always, with the generality of mankind, have the preference above the accurate and abstruse

1748. David Hume. Enquiries concerning the human understanding and concerning the principles of moral.
