if it weren't for nina feelin' good
or the bridge between the peninsula and the cape
or snow falling through my sunroof
or living by myself
or that one last cigarette with my brother on tuesday
or knowing that there is one person
definitely one
at least
who knows me
if it weren't for gin
and poets
and summer in two months
i might not smile quite as much
but maybe i would...
thinking
i don't really
want to find out |

Julie is an idealist/realist who had a dream once of painting the words of the Constitution on the outside of her house. She believes that physical reality is 95% space and 5% thought.... she is trying to be better about mindfulness these days. Much of her work has been focused on raising two boys well but she has plans to be a voice that speaks loudly in the world of poetry and film, bringing to each venue her unique perspective that kittens are tiny prisms of happiness and politics are still worth getting excited about. She would tell you her heroes are Shunryu Suzuki, Roger Waters, Sam Seaborn and Charlie Kaufman. Her goal is to fully become a modern day shaman.
In college Julie studied philosophy because she was thrilled to learn there was a program where you got tested on questions like... is there a god? and why are some things good and some things bad? She got a chance to earn a degree not being taught what to think... but how to think.
As for art, enlightenment and the future she expects magic... the web of information; thought as form; at least from her perspective the blanket that we are all a part of is lovely.
art incites... words live lives of their own... thought with emotion creates.
